What makes a Dachshund look like yours
Dachshunds are all about proportion. A little more or less in the back or the legs and they stop looking like themselves, which is why generic sausage-dog art never quite resembles yours.
They also come in three coats, smooth, long and wire, and in many colours: red, black and tan, cream, chocolate, dapple, piebald, brindle. Your dachshund is built from your photos, so the length, the coat and the pattern are your dog's own.

The long, low outline
Body length and leg length are taken from your side photo, so a standard and a miniature do not come out the same.
Smooth, long or wire
A long-haired doxie's fringed ears and a wire's beard and eyebrows change the whole face. Both are made from what your photos show.
Dapple and piebald
Dapple patches and piebald spots are never symmetrical, and they are placed exactly where your pictures put them.
Rounded, hanging ears
Soft ears set low beside the cheek, often darker or wavier than the rest of the coat.
The best photos of your Dachshund
Get down low. A dachshund photographed from standing height looks like a head on a mat, so crouch or rest the phone on the floor for the side view. Fit the whole body in the frame from nose to tail tip, because the length is the point. For the face, a photo from the front at their eye level shows the ears and the shape of the muzzle. A harness is fine, but a jumper hides the line of the back.

Questions
Does it work for dachshund mixes?
Yes, chiweenies, doxie and beagle crosses, and long-backed dogs of unknown parentage are all fine, because every pet is built from photos. Include a clear side view so the body length comes through.
What if my dachshund has unusual markings?
Double dapple, a piebald saddle, brindle stripes or a single white paw come from your photos rather than a colour chart. Point the camera at anything you want to be sure we see.
Can it tell a miniature from a standard?
It works from the proportions in your photos, not a size setting, so what matters most is a clean side view. Keep the camera level with the body for that one.
My long-haired dachshund has a lot of feathering. Will it show?
Feathered ears, chest and tail are part of the shape in your pictures, so they are part of the model. Brush first so the fringe hangs as it normally does.
Can I make my wire-haired doxie with the beard?
Yes, take one close photo of the face from the front so the beard and eyebrows are sharp. If the preview softens them too much, use a free regeneration.
